We have a great line-up of summer camps scheduled for the Riverside Discovery Center. There are classes for pre-K youth and a parent, up through middle school aged students. Discoveries, excitement, meet the animals, and lots of fun is planned.

2011 Camps and Activities:
June 20-24 ~ High Plains Science Adventures – H2 Oh!
8:00 a.m.– 4:00 pm
Students who have completed 5th – 8th grade. Registration ends May 30. $150, including one overnight. Science teacher must recommend you, scholarships available for low-income families. Students will become citizen scientists and work with resource specialists to learn about one of our most important resources – WATER! Presented by Children and Nature in Our Parks.
June 29 ~ Printmaking
3rd – 4th grade ~ $40, 9:00-11:00a.m.
1st – 2nd ~ $40, 1:00 – 3:00 p.m.
Creative Art! Students will make notecards and print a t-shirt using various items. Receive a snack, t-shirt and notecards.
July 5 ~ Furry, Slinky, Flying Animals
1st – 2nd grade ~ $30, 10:00 – noon
Learn about the wild world of animals. Receive a snack and t-shirt.
July 8 ~ Momma Bear & Baby Bear
Pre-K child and parent ~ $25, 9:00-10:30 a.m.
Learn about wild animal parents and how they care for their young. Receive a
snack and t-shirt.
July 12-13 ~ Marsh Mushers
3rd – 4th grade ~ $40, 9:00-noon
Become a Jr. scientist by investigating the nature of a wetland. Receive a snack and
t-shirt.
July 18 ~ Tell Me a Story About Animals
Pre-K child and parent ~ $25, 10:00-11:30 a.m.
Learn about animals at the zoo through stories. Receive a snack and t-shirt.
July 20-21 ~ Feet Will Get You There
1st - 2nd grade ~ $40, 9:00-noon
Learn about animal locomotion and the variety of ways animals get around. Receive a snack and t-shirt.
July 27-28 ~ Wildlife Photography
4th – 5th grade ~ $50, 10:00 – noon
Students will use digital cameras to photograph nature. Students will receive
prints of their photos, a snack and t-shirt.
August 2 ~ Nature Journaling
3rd – 5th grade ~ $30, 10:00 – noon
Make a nature journal. Sketching, writing, and documenting nature that you see on your explorations. Receive a snack, t-shirt, and nature journal.
August 4-5 ~ Species Survival
4th – 5th grade ~ $40, 9:00 – noon
Learn about threatened and endangered species and how we can help them. Receive a snack and t-shirt.
August 9 ~ I Get Around
Pre-K and parent ~ $25, 10:00 – 11:30 a.m.
Let’s walk like the animals! Learn about the different ways animals move around. Receive a snack and t-shirt.
